Ram(e)ses

Last Tuesday Margriet and I recorded our Art Rocks video, with our friend, Theo Huijgens behind the camera. It all got a bit late, and I forgot my capo, so I had to play a whole other set of chords. Also, my guitar strings need replacing and our voices were a bit shaky. But we did it. And then came the challenge of taking the best bits and tweaking the audio and turning it into a video. Amazing how much I’ve learned in the process.

Here’s the result:

Video: “I met the dragon”

About my music teacher at a convent school. She was one of the nuns and the pupils had given her the nickname, “The Dragon”. She had a fierceness about her that warned everyone to keep their distance. Scary stuff. I think she was very unhappy, and not in her element teaching kids. Many years later, when I was inspired to write a song with dragon in the title, she came to mind.

“Mirror Mirror” – entry for www.artrocks.nl

Irene writes: I selected the painting, “Het oorbelletje”, by Breitner to inspire my song for the http://www.artrocks.nl competition. The recording features me on guitar and vocals, and Margriet on glockenspiel.

Chorus:
Mirror, mirror, mirror
When it comes to love I’m a real beginner
Does it show?
Mirror, mirror, mirror
Help me feel like a winner
Help my confidence grow.

Check out our entry on the artrocks.nl website, and take a moment to listen to the ten finalists and the other submissions: http://www.artrocks.nl/acts/two-doors-down/.
