We’ve just had BAR OPEN MIC NIGHT 3, on Monday, 6 January. Thanks to Kris, Eefje and Rene of BAR and the artists who turned up to entertain us: Maaike, Frederike, Ernst, Joris and Two Doors Down, of course.

Hosting the BAR OPEN MIC NIGHT – 4 November
On Monday, 4 November, Two Doors Down is hosting an open mic night at BAR (Schiekade 201, Rotterdam): BAR OPEN MIC NIGHT
This is a Two Doors Down initiative, but we couldn’t do it without Kris and Emiel of BAR, and all the people who pitch up on the night to listen and to perform.
Sign up is from 20.00 (first come, first served).
There will be 8 to 10 slots available.

Max 3 songs per act (no covers)
Plug-in and play
We are modelling ourselves on the Open Mic Sessions of our friends in the Amsterdam Songwriters Guild, currently held at the Backstage Hotel on Tuesday nights.
Note: BAR also serves meals.

Jamming with locals in Malta
On Wednesday, 10 October, Irene flew in to Malta. Just outside her hotel she noticed a man with a guitar on his back, and decided to approach him for information about possible open mics on the island. The man, called Charlie, wasn’t too optimistic, but he did know of the owner of a suchi restaurant in St Julian’s (a short bus ride away), who hosted jamming sessions on Wednesday nights.
The restaurant, Gochi, was surprisingly easy to find, and Miro (the owner) suggested Irene return after 9pm. Not many musicians turned up, but Miro and Hishi (a young bass player) and Irene managed to have a go, playing some of the Two Doors Down songs. Hishi particularly enjoyed ‘Mr Spitz’, about Mark Spitz, and his seven gold medals – especially the “Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah” at the end of the song (the other verses only have 5 yeah’s).
