I remember the day Charles and Diana got married
My lover left me that morning and never came back.
As it turns out the royal couple
had no happy-ever-after either
Too mismatched
Life’s like that, life’s like that
It can catch you out
Life’s like that, life’s like that
But we do have our moments
on life’s merry-go-round
I read somewhere the dress took five hours to copy
the dressmakers glued to the TV to trace the design
What did it cost?
Which couple bought it?
Was it happy-ever-after
walking down the aisle?
Chorus
Not the dress, not the kiss on the balcony
not the photos in the press
What I recall best of all are the slip-ups
in the vows at St Paul’s and my empty flat.
Chorus
